Begin with a question.
Casting need not be complicated. Make a little time to reflect.
01 · Choose what you want to understand
You might bring a situation, a relationship or a choice. Try asking ‘What am I overlooking?’ or ‘How might I approach this?’. Your question stays on your device, and you may leave it blank.
02 · Cast three coins, six times
Each coin face is worth 2 or 3. Add the three coins to form a line. The first line is at the bottom; the sixth is at the top. Your browser's Web Crypto randomness generates the coins; your question and the date are not used to choose the figure.
| Sum | Line | When changing | Probability |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Moving yin | Yang | 1/8 |
| 7 | Stable yang | Unchanged | 3/8 |
| 8 | Stable yin | Unchanged | 3/8 |
| 9 | Moving yang | Yin | 1/8 |
This website uses the three-coin method, not the yarrow-stalk method; the two methods have different moving-line probabilities.
03 · Read the image and its changes
Begin with the primary hexagram. If any line is 6 or 9, read each moving line from bottom to top, then consider the changed hexagram. L-KinhDich shows all moving lines without a school-specific priority rule. When all six lines of Qian or Kun move, Use Nine or Use Six is also shown.
The changed hexagram is a perspective from the transformed image, not a guaranteed future outcome. You need not force every sentence to fit your circumstances.
04 · Keep what is meaningful
History is saved in your current browser. Add notes, export a JSON backup and import it on another device. Clearing site data or using private browsing may remove history; export a backup when needed.
